Road closures due to continuing wet weather MEDIA RELEASE

Published: 20 April 2021. (Note: information was correct at date of publication but may have since been changed or superseded.)

Cairns Regional Council advises that as a result of continuing rain and a forecast high tide of 1.83m at 5:15pm today, Dunne Road at Yorkeys Knob has been closed.

Council hopes to reopen the road later tonight.

Motorists are also advised that Brinsmead Road is expected to be closed until 7.30pm today as Council clears a large tree that has fallen near the Freshwater Christian College.

Motorists are also being asked to avoid the Freshwater roundabout along Kamerunga Road. Currently, the roundabout is partially closed with traffic control on site and only one lane operating.

Council advises that with water levels not expected to recede, the roundabout will be completely closed from about 6pm until further notice.

Motorists are asked to observe and obey traffic controllers and signs advising the changes to normal traffic conditions, and follow detours as sign posted.
