It’s been 105 years since April 25 officially became Anzac Day. Since 1916, Australians and New Zealanders have paid their respect to the many troops who fought in the First World War, and wars thereafter, often with a dawn service and two-up at their local pub.

We’re bringing a special Anzac Day projection to Manly Town Hall, between Thursday 22 - Sunday 25 April, 6pm to midnight. Come out and see the moving imagery of a lone soldier, poppies and a selection of portraits of local soldiers from our History Hub.  (Don’t forget to be COVID-safe while watching, move off once you have paid your respects and consider coming back a little later if crowds are gathering.)

There are plenty of other ways you can pay your respects this year too:

Watch Council’s online ANZAC Day Dawn Service, live-streamed on Sunday 25, from 5.30am from Manly Dam (note: this is an invitation only event this year due to COVID).Attend a community organised event at one of our RSLs and memorial clubsHave a Driveway Dawn Service, 'Light up the Dawn' on ANZAC Day at 6am from your driveway, balcony or lounge room, or perhaps share a message of support for veteransRead the story of a brave young man from Narrabeen who became ANZAC - Jack Tarrant,  inspiring the iconic Australian film Gallipoli (1981).  Take a walk in one of our memorial bushland reserves or state parks
