“Rice of the World” is a multicultural community lunch to be held at Cook Street Plaza on Saturday 1 May 2021 from 11:00am.
This Harmony Week event is a celebration of multiculturalism that aims to promote community participation through the gathering of people from different cultural backgrounds through a community cook up and gastronomic contest where rice is the main ingredient.
This event, organised by Lithgow City Council as part of Harmony Week celebrations, aims to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
To participate: book your space, bring your group of friends and choose your favourite rice recipe. Get organised and come to COOK STREET PLAZA (May 1 2021 from 9.00 am) with your tables, chairs and a little stove to cook. Please contact Council first for details on safety requirements for outdoor cooking.
We encourage you to wear traditional clothing from your country.
