Have your say on the future of Wentworth Falls Lake Park and Buttenshaw Park

Blue Mountains City Council has released a draft Plan of Management (POM) and draft Masterplan for Wentworth Falls Lake Park and Buttenshaw Park.

These documents will provide a blueprint for how these parks will be used and managed in the future.

A Plan of Management is a high level, legal document which outlines permissible uses, developments and the level of maintenance of the land.

A Masterplan is a more detailed plan that guides the future design and layout of these spaces.

The Masterplan for Wentworth Falls Lake Park considers upgrades such as a proposed accessible walkway over the dam wall, improvements to the dam wall to support that walkway, a new, accessible viewing platform, a community kick-about space, additional picnic facilities and a new multi-purpose shelter.

The Masterplan for Buttenshaw Park includes the development of a proposed new play space for older kids, as well as upgrades to the toilet facilities and carpark, among other improvements at the site.

The community is invited to have their say on these documents and the future of these important spaces by taking part in the surveys at: https://yoursay.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/wentworthfallslake and https://yoursay.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/buttenshaw-park.

These surveys will be open until 5pm on Monday 24 May.

A drop in session on the Masterplan and Plan of Management for Buttenshaw Park will also be held in the Group Fitness Room at Springwood Aquatic Centre on Sunday 16 May from 1 to 5pm.

The date of an information session and a public hearing into the management zones (categories) for Wentworth Falls Lake Park will be advised shortly.

The upgrades to Buttenshaw Park and Wentworth Falls Lake Park are just two of 10 projects that will be completed across the Blue Mountains over the next three years.

These projects are valued at more than $18.7 million and will be funded under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD). The WSCD is a 20 year-agreement between Australian and NSW governments, and the eight local Councils of the Western Parkland City.  Mayor Mark Greenhill said: “It is an exciting time to be living in the Blue Mountains to see these projects come to fruition. They provide a welcome boost to our community infrastructure and public spaces.”
