A story inspired by tragedy is set to grace the stage at the newly re-opened Wyndham Cultural Centre next month.
‘Grace Under Pressure’, a one-night only performance on 4 May, is sure to touch everyone, particularly after the emotions experienced during the pandemic.
Creative City portfolio holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud, said: “Grace Under Pressure’ is a thought-provoking show that challenges the audience to question ‘how do we care for those that care for us’?”
The show was initially created in response to a dark period when a number of health professionals had taken their lives. It is now more poignant than ever as we begin to emerge from a pandemic and start to analyse and understand the mental and physical impacts on health professionals.
“The show is based on stories from 30 health professionals and explores a range of themes and emotions that confront health care professionals; from toxic workplace culture, harassment, stress, workload pressure and societal expectations,” Cr Mahfoud said.
“Health care professionals are not immune from workplace stressors and often the narrative portrayed is that health care workers are ‘Teflon-coated’ and the reality is that health care workers face similar, if not greater challenges than other workers.”
“This confronting show will take viewers on an unforgettable journey through a spectrum of emotions from sadness, to despair to gratitude and laughter,” Cr Mahfoud said.
“With a four-star cast – exploring the reality and raw emotions of the day-to-day emotional challenges of health and medical professionals – this is one you won’t want to miss.”
