Stormwater inspection program starts Environmental Services Group will undertake a CCTV inspection program of Council’s stormwater network.

A CCTV camera inspection program, targeting sections of Bega Valley Shire Council’s stormwater network will start in May.

The program will assist the long-term management of the underground stormwater network, identifying potential maintenance issues for further investigation.

Council’s Civil Assets Superintendent, Gary Louie said the eyes underground approach will pinpoint areas where work is needed.

“This may be to identify pipes and other parts of the network requiring renewal or replacement,” Mr Louie said.

“We have engaged experts in the field of underground asset investigation to provide an update on the condition of our stormwater network.

“Contractors, Environmental Services Group will deliver a detailed assessment identifying parts of the network where work is required.”

Mr Louie said inspections will commence in Bega before moving to the Merimbula area later in May.

“Access to a small number of stormwater pits on private properties may be required during inspections. Residents of these properties will be notified in advance.

“Contractors will access the network via road reserve chambers wherever possible, however where level changes within pits or pipes occur this is not always practical.”

The stormwater inspection program will start on Monday 3 May and is expected to be finalised by the end of May 2021.
