Special 2021/2022 Proposed Budget question and answer broadcast

Published on 26 April 2021

Residents who have any questions regarding Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2021/2022 Proposed Budget will be able to have their queries addressed during a special online question and answer broadcast occurring next week.

The broadcast, featuring Mayor Charlie Gillingham and Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly, will be broadcast from 5pm on Wednesday, 5 May at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/budget and can be viewed at any time after this date on the same webpage.

“Council’s 2021/2022 Proposed Budget outlines how Council will continue to provide key services and undertake a proposed $16.179 million Capital Works program, as well as adhere to the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System, which states that the total revenue raised through municipal rates cannot increase by more than 1.5 per cent compared to the previous year,” Mayor Gillingham said.

“However, like previous years, many residents may have questions that relate to the Proposed Budget and would like further information before providing feedback.

“This special question and answer broadcast aims to assist with the feedback process and is part of Council’s commitment to working with the community in growing the Gannawarra now and into the future.”

Residents can submit questions that will be considered for answering via the broadcast by completing a form online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/budget up to 5pm Friday, 30 April.

“This form enables people to ask up to three questions, as well as guidance regarding how to frame these questions to ensure greater clarity and a sufficient response,” Mayor Gillingham said.

“Anyone who needs assistance to submit a question for consideration is encouraged to visit either of Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna or Kerang, where our friendly staff are able to help, or phone Council on (03) 5450 9333.”

To have your say on Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2021/2022 Proposed Budget, please visit www.gsc.vic.gov.au/budget before 5pm Monday, 25 May. All submissions received will help formulate the final version of the 2021/2022 Budget, which will be presented to Council at its meeting on Wednesday, 16 June 2021.
