The Director of Public Health has determined that, from 1 May 2021 the free Check in TAS App will be the only system to be used for collecting and providing contact tracing information in Tasmania in a number of locations, premises and events, including many which are managed by the Council.
These include the Burnie Arts & Function Centre, Burnie Art Gallery, Makers Workshop and all sporting facilities. All of these facilities now have QR Code posters placed at their entrances. Council’s Community Halls and reserves are also included in cases where they are used for an event gathering that requires an Event COVID Safety Plan.
The City Council Offices, Works Depot, the Marine Terrace Multi-Storey Carpark and the Burnie Waste Management Centre are not currently required to use the Check in TAS App and will continue to use their existing visitor and security systems.
The Public Health direction applies to all people aged 16 and over who are entering and remaining on the premises for 15 minutes or longer. This includes patrons, visitors, volunteers, employees, contractors and operators. They will be required to check in each time they enter and remain at the premises.
Information for the Community: Please take the time to download the app prior to your visit. If you do not have a smartphone, or are unable to use the app, others in your group can check in for you on their device, or our staff can assist you to check in. All members of your group must be registered.
Information for Businesses: Business Tasmania is a Tasmanian Government service which supports anyone operating a business in Tasmania. The Business Tasmania Team will be providing face-to-face support in Burnie on Tuesday 27 April, and there will also be a stall in which you can visit at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre at 77-79 Wilmot St, from 11am – 1pm. If you would like to make an appointment contact the Business Tasmania Hotline on 1800 440 026.
