Under the NSW Governments Flood Prone Land Policy, Councils are responsible for managing flood affected areas to help reduce risk to people and property. Carrathool Council has been developing a Floodplain Risk Management Plan for Hillston with the aim of better understanding and managing the flood risks within the town. The project has progressed to the completion of a Draft Flood Study, which includes the development and calibration of modelling tools to determine the existing flood risk and test any potential future mitigation works.
The draft Flood Study is being prepared by Catchment Simulation Solutions and is jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government. Council is exhibiting the draft Flood Study to the community for comment.
The community is invited to provide comment on the Flood Study either by email or phone to [email protected] (02) 8355 5500.
Public information sessions will also be held on Tuesday 4 May between 8:30am-10:30am and 3pm-5pm at the Hillston District Office, community members are invited to attend drop in and discuss the study with Tim Morrison from Catchment Simulation Solutions, submissions will also be taken at the public information sessions.
Submissions will be received by Council up until 4:15pm Tuesday 25 May, 2021.
