The NSW National Parks and Wildlife, and NSW Rural Fire Service will be conducting a hazard reduction burn in Dharawal National Park between Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 April 2021, weather permitting.
The burn will commence at approximately 10am on Wednesday 28 April in the bushland between Fire Trail 10T down to Minerva pool on Stokes Creek, Dharawal National Park, and continue for two to three days, weather permitting.
The purpose of the controlled burn is to reduce bush fire fuel levels in the area.
The Victoria Road, Wedderburn entrance to Dharawal National Park will be closed during the burning operation along with Fire Trail 10B and Fire Trail 10T. This includes access to the popular destination of O'Hare's lookout, Minerva rock pool and Jingga rock pool.
Live close to the burn area?People in the adjoining Wedderburn area may see smoke and ash throughout the burn and are encouraged to take necessary precautions to protect yourself and your property by:
Preventing smoke entering buildings by closing doors and windows Covering outdoor furniture and retracting pool covers to prevent ember damage Removing washing from clotheslines Making sure pets have a sheltered area and plenty of water If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take you reliever medicine or seek medical advice Motorists should slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on.For your safety, we strongly advise you not to enter recently burnt bushlands to aid post fire restoration.
