Wyndham City has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art open space and sporting development at Werribee’s Alfred Road Reserve – and we want to know what you think.

The draft Master Plan proposes six netball courts, two soccer fields, two cricket ovals, a shared cricket and football oval, nine cricket practice nets, a sporting pavilion to be shared by cricket, netball and football teams, a 1.5 kilometre circuit path with fitness stations, a play and picnic area, car parking and landscaping.

There are also plans for an indoor cricket facility – subject to external funding – and a sporting pavilion for shared use by cricket and soccer.

Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio holder Cr Peter Maynard said the Alfred Road Reserve Master Plan would cater for both new residents in the Riverwalk estate and Werribee West, and established parts of Werribee.

“The Alfred Road Reserve Draft Master Plan aims to transform this 21-hectare parcel of land into a destination for residents and visitors to participate in organised sport, active recreation and leisure activities,” Cr Maynard said.

“This exciting plan will offer cricket, netball, soccer and football facilities all at one site.”

“In particular, it will provide a new home for the Werribee Cricket Club and Werribee Junior Cricket Club, giving both teams the space to expand their existing membership base.”

“It will also host junior and senior levels of competition and training for other sporting associations, clubs, schools and the wider community.”

“This Master Plan aligns with the Wyndham Sports Strategy 2045 and Wyndham Open Space Strategy 2045, which both outline the delivery of more active open space, and sport and recreation infrastructure.”

“Following the community engagement period, Council will review and amend the draft Master Plan accordingly to ensure the plans meet the current needs of clubs in the area.”
