Budding photographers aged between three and 12 years are invited to share their perspective on city life as part of the Little Sydney Lives photography competition.
The annual competition encourages young photographers to submit their best snaps on Sydney life for a chance to win $500 in photography equipment and accessories.
Twenty finalist images will be selected and blown up for an outdoor exhibition in Sandringham Gardens, Hyde Park from 16 September to 10 October.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the annual competition has become increasingly popular with young photographers since it first launched 10 years ago.
“It’s always exciting to see the range of images that feature in our wonderful Little Sydney Lives exhibition,” the Lord Mayor said.
“Our youngest citizens have the most imaginative ways of capturing what life in our city means to them.
“This competition is a fun opportunity for young photographers to interpret and capture everyday life from across Sydney and I look forward to seeing what’s in store for us this time around.”
Winners will be selected in each of two categories – 3 to 7 years and 8 to 12 years – and announced at the opening of the exhibition.
In 2019, six year old Nathan Lo from Toongabbie was the winner in the younger group for his shot Zoom, of his pet betta fish.
Eleven year old Jaime Clarke from Kellyville was the winner in the older age category for her shot Sydney’s Shiny Metro Northwest of commuters on the new Metro Northwest.
A panel of judges including favourite children’s entertainer Justine Clarke, will select the 20 finalist images for the exhibition. The exhibition will be curated by photographer Sandy Edwards.
Little Sydney Lives is part of the City of Sydney’s year-round Art & About program of events and temporary art projects in unusual spaces throughout the city.
Entries for the Australian Life competition close at midnight on Friday 25 May.
