CBCity's Youth Week bigger and better than ever

The City of Canterbury Bankstown is celebrating the contributions of young people in the community as it hosts its biggest Youth Week program yet!

Those between the ages of 12-24 years are encouraged to take part in the wide range of free activities and events on this week.

Mayor Khal Asfour said he’s thrilled that youth can participate in these events that allow them to share ideas, have their voices heard and meet likeminded people.

“CBCity has been celebrating young people for more than 15 years,” Mayor Asfour said.

“Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we were unable to run our usual Youth Week activities in 2020.

“As this year’s theme of ‘together more than ever’ points out, there has never been a more important time to form connections in the community.”

More than 15 exciting activities and events had been arranged as part of Youth Week, including movie marathons, amazing race competitions and skate parties.

“With their incredible talent, dedication and energy, youth play an important role in our community. Their inspiring perspectives help make our City stronger,” Mayor Asfour said.

“And, participating in Youth Week activities is a great place to start. These activities are designed to help young people navigate the challenges they’re so often faced with.

“I especially hope our young people will come down to ‘be HEARD’ at Revesby Skate Park, which gives youth a platform for their voices to be heard by Council on issues important to them.

“I also ask that the broader community joins me in listening to and celebrating our youth to help bring everyone that little bit closer. After all, it is today’s youth that are tomorrows leaders.”
