For over twenty years, Bayside seniors with a connection to Greece have come together to socialise and celebrate Greek culture at Highett Neighbourhood Community House (2 Livingston St, Highett 3190). The Highett Greek Senior Club meets every Thursday morning with members playing bingo, chess, enjoying delicious cakes and Greek coffee. Lunch is prepared and enjoyed together.

For long-time volunteer and club co-ordinator Helen Lucas, it’s the great conversations and the opportunity for people to come together that she enjoys.

“It’s very relaxed. People can get to know one another, chat, drink coffee,” Helen said.

The Highett Greek Senior Club has recommenced with a COVIDSafe plan in place and is welcoming new and returning members.

Council is committed to assisting older people to explore opportunities to remain connected to their community.
