Wanted: two new members for Council’s Place Planning Collective

Byron Shire Council is looking for two new people to join its Place Planning Collective, a group that guides the implementation of actions in the place places for Bangalow, Mullumbimby and the Byron Arts and Industry Estate.

There is a caveat however – one person must live in Bangalow and the other must either live or work in the Byron Arts and Industry Estate.

There are currently 12 people on the Place Planning Collective, including nine community members and three Councillors.

Council’s Place Liaison Officer, Andrew FitzGibbon, said that unfortunately a couple of Place Planning Collective members have resigned from the group and two new members are needed to fill these vacancies.

“The Place Planning Collective has done some excellent work in the last 12 months including, promoting priority actions to make our towns and villages great places, and being strong advocates for community participation in these projects,” Mr FitzGibbon said.

“This is an opportunity for people who have a passion for not only their community but the Byron Shire in general, to get involved and provide input, guidance and expertise to ensure the implementation of the place plans for Bangalow, Mullumbimby and the Arts and Industry Estate represent the desires of local residents and businesses,” he said.
