The Adaminaby Pony Club has been around for 50 years and having secured $4000 through Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Donations & Sponsorships program the Club’s is making plans that will see it succeed through the next half-century.
With the second and third generation of members coming through the ranks of the club, it was time for a few upgrades to the Club’s facilities at the Adaminaby Showground.
As a small club, the Adaminaby Pony Club has been unbelievably successful in competition across a wide array of equestrian disciplines – from campdraft to dressage – but the small member-base does pose difficulties for fundraising.
Club Secretary Kim Jameson says the $4000 from the Donations & Sponsorships program will be a huge help to the Club and to the community in general.
“As a small club our aim is to encourage young riders to pursue their goals and have fun along the way. We offer a variety of activities at the club and in the future aim to improve our facilities and offer more opportunities for our riders.” “This Grant will allow us to build permanent yards the Adaminaby Showground, which is a safer option for horses on rally and competition days.”
“They will also be available for travellers’ use and as a safe and secure evacuation point if ever required.”
The Adaminaby Pony Club were awarded funding in the January—June 2021 period that was approved at the 17 December 2020 Council Meeting.
Applications for the latest round of funding under the Donations & Sponsorships program close Thursday 13 May 2021. Community groups and organisations are urged to apply.
This program has been offered to the community by Snowy Monaro Regional Council every six months and is an important way for community groups across the region to obtain funding as they are often not eligible to apply for other larger forms of funding such as grants for events.
