FCJ College Benalla has celebrated the opening of their 2021 program at an event held on Wednesday 28 April 2021.
The launch event celebrated the Live4Life initiative’s fifth year in Benalla. This year will see more than one thousand community members trained in Teen or Youth Mental Health First Aid since the initiative began.
Mayor Cr Danny Claridge said he was proud of the young people involved.
‘The Benalla Live4Life Program is successful because the community has embraced it,’ said Cr Claridge.
‘Young people have played a leading role in driving this initiative. We are grateful to the young people over the years who have been involved in shaping how our community understands mental health.’
The Live4Life model aims to improve mental health literacy and increase mental health knowledge. It empowers young people to act as ambassadors for mental health, raising awareness of mental health issues among their peers and community.
The 2021 launch is supported by the Benalla Live4Life Partnership Group including Benalla Health, FCJ College, Benalla P-12 College, NE Tracks Local Learning and Employment Network, Tomorrow Today, Victoria Police, Benalla Flexible Learning Centre, NESAY, Central Hume Primary Care Partnership, North East Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Benalla Community Suicide Prevention Steering Group, Benalla Rural City Council and Youth Live4Life Ltd.
