Families unite to promote key health message

Families across the Gannawarra are taking to the footpaths of Cohuna, Kerang and Koondrook as part of Gannawarra Shire Council-led efforts to reduce social isolation and encourage physical activity.

Initiated by Council’s Maternal and Child Health team, weekly or monthly pram walks have grown in popularity, with new participants always welcome.

“Parents can often find it difficult to keep active and meet other parents to socialise whilst with their children,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“The Pram Walks program alleviates this stress, as it enables participants to keep active and meet other parents, which keeps families socially connected.”

Pram Walk sessions are held in the following towns:

Cohuna – Every Wednesday, leaving from the Garden Park car park at 10am. Kerang – Every Monday, leaving from the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre at 9am. Koondrook – Second Wednesday of the month, leaving from the Koondrook Maternal and Child Health Centre at 10am.

“Council congratulates its Maternal and Child Health team for developing this program and their continued efforts in promoting the health of the Gannawarra’s youngest residents,” Mr O’Reilly said.
