NASA astronaut Shannon Walker will be beamed into the On Q space at Lithgow Street for National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 19 May at 11am.

Dr Walker’s reading of Phillip Bunting’s Give Me Some Space! from the International Space Station will be broadcast on a big screen within the On Q space.

“National Simultaneous Storytime is always popular and this year’s unique event will be extra special, straight from the International Space Station,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“The changes to the streetscape as part of the On Q project are about making the area a welcoming place where we can hold events such as this to bring people into the CBD area,” Cr Brticevic said.

The event is being held during Library and Information Week and people can also visit the On Q pop-up library which will be at the On Q space on 19 and 20 May from 10am to 1pm.

There will also be face painting and an astronaut children’s entertainer.

“Have a chat to our friendly library team while you’re there and find out about all the great services and programs our libraries have to offer,” Cr Brticevic said.

National Simultaneous Storytime events will also be held at HJ Daley Library, Glenquarie Library, Eagle Vale Library and Greg Percival Library, Ingleburn.

On Q is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces program.
