Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is running community focus groups this month to help shape the future of its library service.
TRC Community Portfolio Leader Tim McMahon said the focus groups follow on from the Toowoomba Region Libraries Survey completed in February 2021.
“We surveyed community members about the facilities they visit, services they access and how they hear about library events and programs”, Cr McMahon said.
“We had a great response rate with 1460 residents completing the survey and I’d like to thank those people who took part.
“While the results are generally pleasing, the findings highlight opportunities for Council to improve library opening hours, collections and programs. Council is running focus groups to hear people’s experiences, opinions and ideas in these areas.
“This is a great opportunity for members of the community to have input into how we deliver the Region’s core community services into the future.
“Libraries are for everyone and we’d love to hear from all residents including those who don’t currently visit these facilities. I’d encourage everyone to take part in one of the many focus groups across the region.”
Focus group dates and locations are listed below: • Tuesday 25 May, 6.30-8pm, Pittsworth • Wednesday 26 May, 9.30-11am, Crows Nest • Wednesday 26 May, 1-2.30pm, Toowoomba • Thursday 27 May, 6.30-8pm, online (Zoom)
Survey results and focus group feedback will guide recommendations for improving the library service.
