Eateries from Chipping Norton, Prestons, West Hoxton and Middleton Grange took centre stage at Liverpool on a Roll – Council’s premier food festival and a showcase of quality local eats.

Thousands of foodies and families from across the Liverpool Local Government Area descended on Black Muscat Park, Chipping Norton, for a three-day triumph of taste, live music and open-air garden and arcade games.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said the Liverpool on a Roll food festival offered an ideal opportunity for the community to support Liverpool businesses as they emerge successfully from COVID-19.

“We want to thank everyone who joined us for the return of Liverpool on a Roll. The event took on a different format compared to previous years, and we were thrilled to see how well it resonated with the community with each event attracting thousands of hungry patrons. We also want to thank our local food vendors who were integral to the success of this event.

"We certainly know how tough the last year has been for our local businesses and while it may take some time to rebuild yet, we are pleased Council’s signature events like Liverpool on a Roll are helping you on this journey."

"This year's event was more important than ever in celebrating the success of local businesses who have braved the COVID-19 storm and who continue to put South West Sydney on the map as a foodie destination.”

While the past year has been tough for local businesses, ventures like Cookie Boy’s Big Cookies born out of lockdown were popular among attendees.

What began as an enthusiasm for baking during lockdown is now a thriving online business, thanks to the entrepreneurial efforts of founder Michael Tran who also owns and runs Out of Office Espresso on Scott Street, Liverpool.

“We had to shut our café doors for a few months during the height of COVID-19 lockdown. Like many others, we jumped on the baking bandwagon during lockdown. We surprised ourselves with what we could create from our kitchen inspired from what we saw people baking overseas. We are really proud to turn our hobby into a growing business venture,” Mr Tran said.

Mr Tran also diversified business amidst lower revenue due to COVID-19, establishing a ghost kitchen within his local café serving authentic Mexican cuisine.

Other Liverpool born and “bread” businesses included the Doughnut Mum, a family-owned business based in Warwick Farm, Get Shrimped in Prestons, Mr Ciao’s in Chipping Norton, Mumma Le’s Vietnamese Kitchen in West Hoxton, Cali Burgers Sydney in Len Waters Estate and Wheely Gourmet in Middleton Grange.

Event sponsors included Archie Rose Distilling Co. (Gold Sponsor) and Time Out, Exclusive Lifestyle Media Partner. The event was also supported by Royal Wolf and JEM Promotional Products.
