Council is getting a step closer to its goal of reaching Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Already this year, Council has added close to 100kW of solar panels at six sites as part of our Charge Ahead program, bringing our overall total to over 900kW. We have also installed our first solar charged battery system so we can use stored energy at night.
This year’s solar additions will deliver significant cost savings by reducing Council’s electricity bills.
Site installations so far in 2021 include:
Cromer Administration building (additional 25kW)Roundhouse Children’s Centre (15kW)Forestville Library (30kW)Newport Community Centre (additional 7kW plus 6.5kW battery)Coastal Environment Centre (additional 5kW)Avalon Recreation Centre (additional 15kW)This continues the good work that saw Council reach Bronze Partner status through the NSW Government’s Sustainability Advantage Program.
Have you considered switching to solar and reaping the benefits of lower electricity bills? Households on the Northern Beaches are saving an average of $1,412 a year by installing solar.*
