$560,000 of improvements at the Hillston Caravan Park were officially opened by Carrathool Shire Council Mayor Cr Darryl Jardine last week.

The improvements included the purchase of two new executive-style cabins, the upgrade of the Park’s amenities block and refurbishment of some older cabins and the Camp Kitchen. The works  were made possible by funding through the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

“The Caravan Park is an essential part of our business mix. Not only does it provide a welcome stop-over facility for travelling “grey nomads” in their caravans and mobile homes, but the Park also provides accommodation for back packers and seasonal workers who are a vital part of our local economy,” Mayor Darryl Jardine said at the opening last week.

The Mayor went on to confirm that local tradespeople were employed as much as possible during the project.

“The benefits of funds such as Stronger Country Communities, is that not only do they allow Council to provide improved facilities for our local community; they also provide employment and business opportunities for local people within our Shire.”
