Youth Week 2021 was held at Stan Peters Oval in Hillston last week and was seen as the most successful event to date. This year the program was able to be expanded to include laser tag, pound fit and t shirt painting courtesy of funding from Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network – Empowering our Communities Program. Over 50 people attended from all over the Shire including representatives from Rankins Springs. The Council took the opportunity to combine the event with the official opening of improvements of the oval which were made possible by $197,000 funding from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Mayor Cr Darryl Jardine officiated at the opening of the improvements which included a new perimeter white picket fence, new goal posts, additional oval seating and a state of the art LED electronic scoreboard.
“It is really great to see how these grants can benefit our community. Here on Stan Peters Oval today, we saw how updated facilities can really add to events such as Youth Week” Mayor Darryl Jardine commented.
