Time is running out for residents to have their say on Council’s Draft Revenue and Rating Plan, with submissions accepted up to 5pm Monday, 24 May 2021.
The document, which is a requirement of the new Local Government Act 2020, outlines how Council calculates the revenue needed to fund its activities and how this revenue is collected.
“Council thanks all residents who have provided feedback so far, and encourages those considering developing a response to do so before 24 May,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“The Draft Revenue and Rating Plan’s purpose is to determine the most appropriate and affordable revenue and rating approach for Gannawarra Shire Council.”
The Draft Revenue and Rating Plan provides in-depth details regarding Council’s revenue sources, as well as how rates and charges are calculated and relevant policies that align with Council’s financial operations.
“Strategies outlined in the plan align with the objectives contained in the current version of the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan, and will feed into our budgeting and long-term financial planning documents,” Mayor Gillingham said.
“It is important to note that the Revenue and Rating Plan does not set revenue targets for Council. The plan’s purpose is to outline the strategic framework and decisions that inform how Council will go about calculating and collecting its revenue.”
Copies of the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan can be inspected at Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna and Kerang, as well as online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/budget
Feedback will be accepted in writing via email to [email protected]; by post to PO Box 287, Kerang VIC 3579; or online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/budget
