The City of Swan’s Beechboro Community Hub was awarded Community Facility of the Year for its innovative features of design, development and operation at the Parks and Leisure Australia Regional Awards WA in Perth on Wednesday May 12, 2021.
The awards recognise and showcase outstanding initiatives and innovative efforts which promote and enhance leisure time across twelve award categories.
Another City project, the first stage of New Junction’s vibrant open space Weeip Park in Midland, was also named as a finalist in the Park of the Year category.
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said he was thrilled with the award and recognition of industry excellence.
“Not only is it a considerable accomplishment for the City of Swan, we share this prestigious award with our community and the people we serve,” Mayor Bailey said.
“The years of research, planning, collaboration and detailed project management for both projects was a collective effort from many people, including staff, consultants, contractors and community.
“In our pursuit to provide great quality of life, health and wellbeing for our residents, those people were the ones who brought this vision to life.”
The City invests in and delivers vibrant and well-designed open spaces and community facilities to provide multiple recreational, social, environmental and economic benefits for residents and communities.
