Australia has almost six million volunteers, who dedicate over 600 million hours to helping others. On the Northern Beaches, we’re in awe at all of the people who give up their time to support the incredible community groups, charities and services in our area.
At Council alone, we have over 900 volunteers who work in 11 different services from delivering library books to looking after our marine life, to hosting community Meals on Wheels lunches. We couldn’t do it without them!
Last year many of our volunteers were sadly stood down for their safety during the COVID-19 pandemic but several of our teams used this opportunity to make improvements to their volunteer programs. One of those was Manly Art Gallery & Museum who re-evaluated their volunteer roles to make sure they remain engaging, while utilising the skills that our volunteers bring.
