Restocker steers reach record 620c at Blackall...

Blackall combined agents yarded a total of 4303 head of cattle for the prime and store sale last week.

Cattle were sourced from Blackall, Aramac, Tambo, Longreach, Barcaldine, Windorah, Boulia and the Northern Territory.

All the usual buyers were present and active alongside increased competition from southern Queensland restockers.

Light and medium weight steers and heifers saw gains of 20c live weight in most classes. Light weight restocker steers 200 to 280kg sold to a new yard record selling to 620c to average 538c. Runs of good quality pregnancy tested in calf cows saw very strong demand selling to 380c.

Bulls under 450kg sold to 355c, average 339c, and bulls over 450kg made 350c, average 308c.

Cows 300-400kg sold to 280c, average 266c, cows 400-500kg made 380c, average 321c, and cows over 500kg reached 380c, to average 299c.

Heifers under 220kg made 584c, average 489c, heifers 220-280kg sold to 558c, averaging 458c, heifers 280-350kg reached 488c, average 412c, heifers 350-450kg made 380c, average 335c, and heifers over 450kg sold to 382c, averaging 332c.

Steers under 220kg sold to 596c, average 546c, steers 220-280kg sold to 620c, averaging 515c, steers 280-350kg made 578c, average 482c, steers 350-400kg reached 452c, average 351c, steers 400-550kg made 418c, average 381c, and steers over 550kg sold to 358c, average 355c.
