Liverpool City Council is ready to work immediately with public and private sector entities to provide a co-working hub in Liverpool’s CBD.
Council has responded to a report released by the Business Western Sydney Chamber that identified Liverpool as a potential future site for co-working that would improve the work-life balance for South West Sydney residents who often face long daily commutes to the Sydney CBD.
Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said the report talked about the future, but Liverpool is ready now.
“We are an innovative Council and we are focused on putting jobs close to local people,” Mayor Waller said.
“We want to help locals work from Sydney’s Third CBD in quality surroundings with decent wifi, close to their homes.
“Workers will have a greater life balance and there is evidence their productivity will improve as well.
Council is ready to provide a co-working space of 20 desks immediately with scope to offer more in the near future.
Liverpool Civic Place – the biggest public project under way in Liverpool’s CBD will also have co-working space available when it opens in 2023.
Mayor Waller said Council’s approach to working life for its residents also included advocacy for better public transport including more express services between Liverpool and the Sydney CBD; the extension of the Sydney Metro South West line from Bankstown to Liverpool; and the extension of the Leppington Line to the Badgerys Creek site of the future Western Sydney International Airport.
