Nutrien Western agent Boyd Curran and vendor Campbell McClymont with a line of AJM Pastoral Co heifers. The heifers sold to 402c/kg, reaching a top of $2,180 to average $1,727.

Yarding 5941 ChangeĀ -845

Cattle numbers fell this week to 5,941, down by 845 head at the Roma Store Sale.

The yarding included two large runs from Western Queensland along with good runs of quality cattle drawn from the local supply area.

The overall quality of the yarding was mixed with steers and heifers presented in equal numbers. A solid buying panel was present and operating and included all regular processors with restockers continuing to bolster the buying panel numbers.

Competition remained firm with prices improving across the medium weight and heavy weight steers along with the light weight and medium weight heifers, however light weight steers medium weight heifers under 400kg eased from the previous week.

Light weight steers fell by 22c to 31c/kg. The lead of the medium weight steers improved by 7c to 23c/kg. Heavy weight steers improved by 21c/kg.

Light weight heifers to restockers improved by 45c, while medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers improved by 27c/kg. Medium weight heifers under 400kg to feed fell by 20c, heavy weight heifers to feed also fell down by 8c/kg. Heavy weight cows improved in price by 2c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg were again few in numbers and sold to a top of 608.2c to average 576c/kg. A good sample of yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 598.2c to average 536c/kg. Yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 562.2c to average 516c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 518.2c to average 476c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 470.2c to average 432c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 578.2c to average 569c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 566.2c to average 513c/kg. Yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 520.2c to average 498c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 476.2c to average 435c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to a top of 442.2c to average 415c/kg.

The best of the grown steers sold to 386.2c to average 377c/kg. The best of the grown heifers sold to a top of 390.2c to average 374c/kg.

Restocker demand remained strong for another run of a large single vendor line of PTIC grown heifers which sold on a dollars per head basis to a top of $2180/head.

Processor demand remained firm for cows as medium weight 3 score sold to 303.2c to average 294c/kg. Medium weight 4 score cows made to 307.2c to average 307c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 304.2c to average 296c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows reached a top of 317.2c to average 308c/kg.

Light weight bulls to restockers sold to a top of 574.2c to average 495c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls made to 333.2c to average 319c/kg.

Cows and calves reached a top of $2675/unit.
