Blue Mountains City Council to attend National Summit to accelerate climate solutions
Blue Mountains 24 May 2021

Blue Mountains City Council will join the best minds in the country working on local climate solutions at the Climate Council’s Cities Power Partnership National Summit on Wednesday, 26 May 2021.

Council representatives will tune in virtually to hear practical case studies from councils around the country and internationally, who are simultaneously tackling climate change and delivering savings to ratepayers via local climate and energy projects.

Cities Power Partnership director, Dr Portia Odell, said that local governments such as Blue Mountains City Council working with other councils around the country and with their local communities are becoming an important part of Australia’s climate solution.

“Councils across Australia are working at the cutting edge of local climate and renewable energy innovation. We’re looking forward to welcoming them to the Cities Power Partnership National Summit and working with them on creating Australia’s clean future,” said Dr Odell.

The Summit will see councils from across Australia sharing ideas and hearing from climate experts including renowned economist Ross Garnaut and industry leaders on topics including setting and achieving net zero targets, capitalising on the clean economy, investing in large-scale renewable energy.

Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said that they are excited about supercharging Council’s work on climate change and clean energy.

“Connecting with other councils and sharing ideas and knowledge will help us to develop and accelerate practical and effective climate solutions that deliver benefits like cleaner cities and cheaper energy for our community,” he said.

The Cities Power Partnership National Summit will take place virtually on May 26-27.
