More support for Dark Mofo

The City of Hobart will provide use of several of its venues for the upcoming Dark Mofo event.

Venues such as the Regatta Grounds, Salamanca Lawns, Long Beach and City Hall will be made available to Dark Mofo as in-kind support worth about $6700. The Council has also granted a partial fee-waiver for road closures, valued at $900.

These measures are in addition to almost $200,000 in in-kind support already being provided by the Council through provision of equipment such as tables, chairs and kitchen facilities for this year’s Winter Feast.

Safe space extended

The Hobart City Mission Safe Night Space program will continue to operate from City Hall until it able to shift into its new premises.

Hobart City Mission has advised that is it in the process of finalising lease arrangements for a property. A planning application for the new premises has been lodged and it currently being processed

An extension was granted to allow the program to operate from the Youth Arts and Recreation Centre (ARC) within the City Hall until 30 June, or until planning and building approvals for the new premises have been obtained.

April building statistics

During the month of April, the City of Hobart issued 56 planning permits for projects worth more than $31.7 million.

Among the permits issued were 19 new single dwellings, 13 multiple dwellings and a hotel development worth $17 million.

A total of 794 planning approvals were granted in the 12 months ending April 2021.

Also during the month of April, 37 building permits were issued for projects with a total estimated value of $11.4 million. This includes 18 new multiple dwellings worth $5.4 million.

During the 12 months ending April 2021, a total of 718 building permits were issued to the value of $205.4 million.
