One of the Toowoomba Region’s favourite events, Winter Wonderland, will not be taking place this year.
While it was expected to return in 2021, Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Environment and Community Committee Chair Cr James O’Shea said the suppliers had not fully recovered from the impact of COVID-19.
“As our community bounces back from last year’s event we were hopeful of having Winter Wonderland return but unfortunately we’ve had to delay this for another year,” Cr O’Shea said.
“We’ve been unable to secure a workable deal in this uncertain COVID environment so have decided to rest the event for 2021 and try again in 2022 when suppliers have returned to more ‘normal’ operations.
“Knowing the community love this event, we looked at what else was available and how we could still make it work but ultimately we’ve had to make the tough decision of cancelling it this year.
“While it’s disappointing the event won’t be proceeding, we will do whatever we can to have Winter Wonderland back in 2022.”
