COVID-19 restrictions reinstated

Published on 25 May 2021

On Monday the Victorian Department of Health announced that there were four new cases of COVID-19 in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs as a result of community transmission. As a result, a number of new restrictions have been put into effect from 6:00pm Tuesday 25 May for residents who live in Greater Melbourne.

Residents who live in the Macedon Ranges and travel to Greater Melbourne for work or other purposes, are also required to follow these restrictions while in Greater Melbourne.

Restrictions include:

Masks are mandatory indoors, including the workplace, for everybody aged 12 and over unless an exemption applies. Public gatherings limited to 30 people Limiting private households to gatherings of 5 people

The restrictions also "follow" people leaving metropolitan Melbourne to wherever they are visiting in regional Victoria.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s public facilities will remain open. The Scheduled Council Meeting to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 26 May will only be accessible to the public to watch online.

Council encourages residents to check the list of exposure sites.

If you have been to any of the listed locations, please follow the public health advice found on the Victorian Department of Health’s dedicated COVID-19 website.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 – such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills or sweats, or change in sense of smell or taste – get a test immediately. Testing locations are updated on the Victorian Department of Health’s dedicated COVID-19 website.

As this is a changing situation, we are closely monitoring government communications and will update with any further changes as they are announced.

The Macedon Ranges Shire Council COVID-19 Recovery Operations Centre was set up in 2020 and continues to respond to community requests for help and information. For local information and support contact Customer Service on (03) 5422 0333 or email [email protected].
