Mayor Kerry Hayes hosted His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland on his vice-regal visit to the Central Highlands on 25 and 26 May 2021.
His Excellency’s visit included unveiling the region’s second red bench in Blackwater, meetings students at Blackwater North State School, visiting the Emerald Art Galleries current SixteenLegs exhibition and renaming the Emerald BUSHkids service centre in honour of its founder, and former 15 Governor of Queensland, Sir Leslie Orme Wilson.
‘It was a great honour to welcome the Governor to the Central Highlands, discuss our region’s priorities and showcase some of the very important initiatives in our communities,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘I thank His Excellency for his vice-regal visit that brought a smile to so many people’s faces today.’
