28 May, 2021

Lithgow City Council welcomed seven new Australian citizens at its recent Citizenship Ceremony held at the newly refurbished Union Theatre.

The ceremony was held on 26 May 2021 and saw Paul Toole MP, Member for Bathurst and Mayor Councillor Ray Thompson recognise the final stage for the people in becoming Australian citizens.

“These new Australians pledged their loyalty to our country and have taken an exciting step in showing their commitment to this nation, and Lithgow as well, and the desire to share a common future.” said Mayor Thompson

“It is great to see the growing cultural diversity of Lithgow. We welcomed citizens from Thailand, South Korea, Haiti, Papua New Guinea and the United Kingdom.”

“It was a great honour to have Paul Toole MP also presiding over the ceremony.  The new citizens were so pleased to engage with him.”

“I wish all of these new Australians the very best for the future and congratulate them on becoming Australian citizens. As for all of our community, I encourage them to strongly engage in creating this city’s future” concluded Mayor Thompson.
