Toowoomba artist Bruce Griffiths in June is unveiling a new body of work Artistic Visions: A journey in watercolour at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.
The exhibition will be on display from June 5 to July 4, 2021.
Griffiths said his solo exhibition explored the natural beauty of Australia in his watercolour style that combined traditional realism with impressionism.
He said he only painted from locale or memories of places where he had travelled.
“I never paint where I have not been and I never paint what I cannot feel,” Griffiths said.
“I have an almost elusive pursuit of light with my work and I focus on capturing the light of early mornings and late afternoons.”
The exhibition showcases Griffiths’ artistic journey around Australia, capturing atmospheric scenes in watercolour.
Griffiths lives and creates his works in the Toowoomba Region, where he has been a practising artist for 19 years.
He regularly wins awards for his work and shares his knowledge of watercolours by teaching and hosting watercolour workshops.
Bruce will host his own ‘Meet the Artist’ day at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery on Sunday, June 6 at 1.30pm.
Residents are invited to join the event to meet Bruce and learn more about his artistic practice and work.
Bookings are essential for capacity numbers. Please RSVP to Council’s Customer Service Centre by Friday, June 4 on 131 872 or [email protected]
