Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio is encouraging residents to get the COVID vaccination to help protect the safety of the community.
Mayor Antonio today (May 28) received his first vaccination, stating how important it was for all members of the community to get their vaccination.
“I understand there is some fear out there about the vaccination, but in this uncertain time it’s important we listen to the advice of our health experts,” Mayor Antonio said.
“We have been incredibly lucky here in the Toowoomba Region that we have been less affected by this deadly virus, however it’s vital we don’t become complacent.
“The best way we can do this is by getting the vaccine.
“This week alone we have seen how the situation can worsen in other parts of Australia. As a leader in this community, I want to make sure we’re doing everything we can to avoid situations like the one we’re witnessing in Victoria.
“The way our community has responded for the past year or so has been amazing. Let’s now take the next step by ensuring we’re all vaccinated.
“Talk to your doctor and medical experts about the best way to access the vaccination.
“It’s also important that we continue following the advice from Queensland Health. Our health professionals have been tremendous during this ordeal and I cannot thank them enough for everything they’ve done.
“Finally, please remember that if you’re sick, stay home and arrange a COVID-19 test.”
