Wyndham City is proud to announce Joann Manoj Jacob as the One Wyndham June recipient.
One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 and 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.
Each month Council selects a Wyndham resident to be awarded the ‘young person of the month’.
Winners are awarded a $200 gift voucher of their choice and other prizes.
June recipient, Joann Manoj Jacob wants to create a better society for all especially those that face disadvantage. Joann has harnessed her passion for social justice and expressed it creatively through public speaking and helping the community.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Adele Hegedich, said Joann was a positive role model for young people in Wyndham.
“Joann champions social justice and works to create a more equal society,” Cr Hegedich said.
“Joann has developed public speaking skills through challenging herself to do things out of her comfort zone.”
“Last year Joann participated in the Parliament Prize competition and won for her confident and inspiring speech. She spoke up for those whose voices are often unheard, talking about racial inequality and Indigenous deaths in custody.”
“Joann is inspiring our young Wyndham residents to look to the future and create a future where everyone has access to opportunities and the chance to live their best life.”
“Wyndham City values Joann’s contribution to making Wyndham a better and more inclusive place for all.”
