Residents are advised that the cleaning of the Cohuna Recreation Reserve’s building facilities and amenities have been undertaken following the Department of Health declaring the reserve a Tier 2 COVID-19 site.
This classification resulted from a visitor who tested positive to COVID-19 following their attendance at the Cohuna Football and Netball Club, Cohuna Recreation Reserve, Island Road, Cohuna on Saturday, 22 May between 12 noon and 5pm. This visitor watched multiple netball games, visited the canteen (inside) and used outdoor public toilets.
“The Department of Health provided guidance to Council regarding the requirements of managing a COVID-19 exposure site, including cleaning measures,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“Following on from this guidance received, Council staff have completed the cleaning of the reserve’s building facilities and amenities.
“Residents are reminded that as part of the State Government’s COVID-19 circuit breaker period, all Council-managed facilities, including the Cohuna Recreation Reserve’s buildings, are closed to the public at this time. A public toilet amenity located in the facility adjacent to the netball courts is now open for public use.”
Council would also like to remind anyone who was in attendance between 12 noon and 5pm on Saturday, 22 May to be tested for COVID-19 and isolate until a negative result is received. Attendees during this time are also required to phone the Department of Health on 1300 651 160.
“There is an RV Park located within the Cohuna Recreation Reserve and any visitors who may have visited the Cohuna Football and Netball Club, Cohuna Recreation Reserve event during the identified timeframe are strongly encouraged to get tested,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Council thanks all residents who have been tested and are currently isolating at this time.”
