Changed traffic conditions and closures for IRONMAN Cairns MEDIA RELEASE

Residents are reminded of changed conditions this weekend associated with the IRONMAN Cairns Asia Pacific Championship event on Sunday 6 June.

Under changed traffic conditions, access to the Cairns Airport, Cairns Beaches, Smithfield, and the Northern Beaches will remain open at all times.

The Captain Cook Highway will be closed from 5.30am to 5.30pm from Veivers Road, Palm Cove to Beor Street, Craiglie.

When planning your travel arrangements please ensure you leave plenty of time as traffic delays may occur.

Smithfield Transfer Station closed Sunday

Smithfield Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday 6 June due to changed traffic conditions for IRONMAN Cairns.

The Transfer station will re-open on Monday 7 June for normal operating hours.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
