Take a classic Aussie road trip to the famous outback races.
The Birdsville Races are back with a new ticket offering to help travellers get more out of their road trip to the iconic outback event.
A Birdsville Races Roadies membership offers additional benefits including route suggestions and travel advice from major cities, discounts, bumper and door stickers, plus the ability to connect with fellow travellers by creating online “Roadies” profiles.
Birdsville Race Club Vice-President Gary Brook expected increased numbers this year after last year’s COVID-enforced cancellation and the boom being experienced in outback tourism.
“Committing to a $40 ticket and a self-drive holiday is a no-brainer,” Mr Brook said.
“We’re a totally unique Australian travel experience and we look forward to sharing that again in September.”

The Birdsville Races is in its 139th year and attracts thousands of visitors to the outback for a packed calendar of events leading into the Friday and Saturday race days at the Birdsville racetrack on 4-5 September. “For the first time ever, we won’t be selling tickets at the racetrack gates this September,” Mr Brook said.
“Anyone wanting to come to the event will need to pre-purchase their tickets online before they head out to Birdsville.
“It will help us with managing numbers and ensure we run a COVID-safe event.
“It sounds like a bit of a cliche but there really is nothing like the Birdsville Races.
“The welcoming hospitality and sense of fun that comes with the event is extraordinary.
“You haven’t really experienced outback Australia until you’ve been to the Birdsville Races.”
Tickets to the 2021 Birdsville Races are available now with single-day general admission prices starting at $39.80. Trackside hospitality options are also available for pre-purchase.
