Published on 03 June 2021

Numerous Gannawarra Shire Council facilities and services that were closed or postponed during the seven-day COVID-19 circuit breaker period will resume operations on Friday, 4 June 2021.

Like many businesses and services across the State, Council adhered to the State Government’s measures that aimed to reduce the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community.

“Council thanks the community for their understanding during the circuit-breaker period, which impacted Council services from Friday, 28 May,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Council looks forward to welcoming visitors back at this time, but advises that some services will continue to be postponed due to the revised restrictions in place.”

Changes to Council’s services that will come into effect from 11.59pm Thursday, 3 June include:

The re-opening of Gannawarra Library Service branches at Cohuna, Kerang, Leitchville and Quambatook; The re-opening of the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre; The resumption of Community Care home care services; The resumption of NDIS Community Access and Home Care services; and The resumption of the L2P Driver Mentor Program.

Numerous service changes initially implemented on Friday, 28 May will remain in place at this time. These include:

The closure of the Kerang Exercise Pool, including the cancellation of Warra Waders swimming lessons; The cancellation of any facility bookings at this time; The cancellation of the Social Meals program, with sessions to resume at this stage on Tuesday, 15 June.

“As per the new guidelines that will be in place from 11.59pm tonight, residents attending Council’s Customer Service Centres or Gannawarra Library Service branches will need to adhere a number of new measures. These include wearing a face mask, unless they have a valid exemption, signing in upon arrival, density limits and keeping 1.5 metres apart,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Most importantly, if you are not feeling well, please stay at home and arrange to have a COVID-19 test.”
