Three successful grant applicants in Round 2 of Council’s Environmental Levy Community Group Grants were endorsed by Council during the Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday, 26 May 2021.
In April 2021, a second round of grants opened to community groups that were able to demonstrate a contribution to the four priorities of the Environment Strategy 2018.
The four priorities are:
1. Biodiversity and habitat protection
2. Adapting to a changing climate and natural hazard management
3. Improving land management practices that influence water quality and waterway health
4. Energy efficiency and the addition of renewable energy.
Below are the successful community groups and their projects.
• ANARA (Australian Native Animals Rescue and Rehabilitation Association Inc - Food, medical supplies for native wildlife.
• Gympie and District Landcare Group Inc - Messmate Park tree planting/weed management breeding, monitoring and release of biological controls.
• Mary River Catchment Coordination Association - Waterwatch Program Calibration, purchase of testing equipment, educational materials, wages for program supervision and data management.
Round 2 of the Environmental Levy Community Groups Grants totalled $52,215.
