Residents can now have their say on a proposal to reclassify land at the Campbelltown Billabong Parklands site to operational land.
The planning proposal will allow for commercial opportunities to be explored on the land such as a kiosk or café when the under-construction billabong is completed next year.
The proposal also includes land surrounding the billabong parklands site to facilitate potential enhancements to the precinct in the future.
“This is another step towards creating a unique and special attraction in the heart of our city and ensuring that it is a place that the community will be excited by from the day it opens,” Mayor George Brticevic said.
“These parklands will be an iconic destination and this proposal will future-proof the precinct so that it can be a true centrepiece for our city,” Cr Brticevic said.
The billabong parklands is funded by Council and the NSW State Government and Federal Government through the Western Sydney City Deal Liveability Fund, now to a total value of $31 million.
Construction on the project began in June and is expected to be complete by June 2022.
