Moree Plains Shire Council is on the hunt for passionate and committed young people residing across the Moree Plains to join the 2021 Moree Plains Youth Council and make a meaningful change in the community.
Youth Council is an advisory committee of Council providing an opportunity for young people to participate in discussions and have input in local community issues across the Shire.
“Moree Plains Youth Council provides young people with a platform where their voices can be heard”, explained Council’s Acting Director of Planning and Community Development, Daniel Boyce.
“By becoming a member of Moree Plains Youth Council young people can develop their skills in leadership and advocacy and gain a better understanding of local government’s role in our community.
“It’s a great achievement to be a youth councillor and play an active role in making a meaningful change for the young people in Moree Plains Shire. This year the main responsibilities for the Moree Plains Youth Council will include planning events and providing input on Council’s Youth Strategy”, said Mr Boyce.
Moree Plains Youth Council meet every fortnight with the first meeting for the year scheduled for 3.30pm, Monday 21 June 2021. We welcome the youth of the plains to come along for a ‘Meet and Greet’ with afternoon tea provided at the Council Chambers, Level 1 Max Centre, Moree.
