Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller has welcomed the awarding to Multiplex of the construction contract for the Western Sydney International Airport terminal, but has urged the global construction giant to deliver a terminal for the people.

“Liverpool is the Gateway City to Western Sydney International Airport. Our people are going to build, work at and travel from the new airport,” Mayor Waller said.

“Airports are about people-to-people connections. We know what our people need and the future airport should fit into its environment and be a great experience at the same time.

“The video of the terminal design looks amazing. I hope the finished product lives up to what is promised and is based on sound design principles.”

Mayor Waller also said there was an opportunity for Western Sydney International Airport to be a fully digital, sustainable airport with great public transport connections.

“We welcome the new Metro line and we continue to advocate for a choice of public transport options linking the airport including the extension of the Inner West and Leppington Line to the site and for the Fifteenth Avenue Smart Transit (FAST) Corridor,” Mayor Waller said.
