Crago Mill Precinct Masterplan now on Pubic Consultation Council are now inviting the community to have their say on the Crago Mill Precinct masterplan. In February 2020, Council identified a Civic Precinct – comprising a new library, community meeting rooms, office accommodation, ecommerce small business centre, short-term accommodation and long-term tenants – as a key future infrastructure project for the community. Councillors also determined to make funds available for the preparation of documents required for the project to proceed to the stage where it will be deemed ‘shovel ready.’ “Having ‘shovel ready’ plans will place Council in a strong position to secure any grant funding opportunities on offer” said Councils General Manager, Chris Berry. The community are invited to view the masterplan design options and provide feedback by visiting https://www.yassvalley.nsw.gov.au/.../public.../article/1199 Submissions close 5pm Friday, 18 June 2021.
Flood Studies public consultation Yass Valley Council recently engaged Consultants to undertake a Floodplain Risk Management Study and to prepare a Floodplain Risk Management Plan for the township of Yass. The Floodplain Risk Management Study assessed a range of measures which were aimed at mitigating the existing flood risk (associated with any existing development on flood prone land), future flood risk (associated with future development on flood prone land) and continuing flood risk (the risk remaining in both existing and future development areas after floodplain risk management measures are implemented) at Yass. Based on the findings of the Floodplain Risk Management Study, a preferred set of measures have been recommended for inclusion in the Floodplain Risk Management Plan for Yass. An important step in the finalisation of the work that has been undertaken by the Consultants is for the community to provide feedback on the findings of the Floodplain Risk Management Study, as well as the measures comprising the Floodplain Risk Management Plan for Yass. The draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan report will be placed on public exhibition at the Yass Valley Council Administration Office until 25 June 2021. The draft report will also be available via Council’s website.
To assist with understanding the impacts of the Flood Study Council will be arranging the following:
A “drop-in” session to answer any questions. This will be held 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday 16, June 2021 at the Council Chambers Two pop-up displays will also be set up, one nearby the carpark at Riverbank Park (adjacent to Cobblestone Cottage) and the other the corner of Comur Street and Rossi Street outside the Courthouse, to provide a visual representation of the flood levels. These displays will be available for inspection between 8am - 4pm Monday, 7 June to Friday, 11 June 2021. The displays will include markers indicating various flood levels for these locations, general information about the flood study and how to get more information.
