Funding sought to boost roundabout safety MEDIA RELEASE

Council will apply for $500,000 of Federal Government funding to improve safety for cyclists at a number of roundabouts.

An application will be made to the 2022-23 Black Spot program to assist Council in rolling out its cyclist safety treatments to a further 11 roundabouts in the Cairns region.

The roll out follows a 2016 safety audit, which identified various safety issues in relation to cycle safety on approach to and within the circulating parts of roundabouts.

Council intends to eventually roll out safety cyclist treatment on all roundabouts in the Cairns region.
