Council Meeting Snapshot - Wednesday 9 June

To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 9 June ordinary meeting.

Safe and Sustainable Environments 

Public Road Register 2020-2021

Council endorsed the proposed roads listed in the report to be included and/or removed from the Public Road register, that have been assessed in accordance with the Register of Public Roads & Hierarchy Policy and Procedure from public requests, internal review and subdivision developments and adopted the revised Public Road Register effective 1 July 2021. Council noted the cost implications associated with this review of the Public Road Register on the Annual Budget, and the annual contract sum increase for CON2019060 Routine Road Maintenance effective 1 July 2021

Road Management Plan

Council noted the feedback received during the public exhibition period of the Road Management Plan, the officers' response to the submissions received during the consultation period, the changes to the Road Management Plan in consideration of the feedback received and adopted the updated Road Management Plan.

Revolving Sustainability Fund Policy

Council noted the feedback provided by Council's Environmental Voice Advisory Committee on the preferred Revolving Sustainability Fund policy and Sustainability Project Assessment Matrix tool and adopt the Revolving Sustainability Fund policy. Council will create a Revolving Sustainability Fund Reserve as part of finalising Council's 2021/22 annual budget. 

Organisational Excellence

Infrastructure Loan - New Loan $4.155 million

Council approved the Chief Executive Officer to accept and sign the Offer of Finance letter from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) dated 14 May 2021, selecting Option 1 being for a five year variable loan in the amount of $4.155 million.

Governance Rules 

Council adopted the Governance Rules, which were created in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020 and have recently been amended, after being subject to a public exhibition period of 21 calendar days from 29 April 2021 - 20 May 2021.

General Business Motion

Cr Lucas, raised a general business motion requesting a report considering the options for improving pedestrian safety, including the potential installation of a pedestrian school crossing at 50 Victoria street Drouin, outside St Ita's Primary School. The report will be presented to Council by 22 September 2021.

In line with current restrictions, Council will be limiting attendance at its Council Meetings.

Commencing with the Wednesday 9 June 2021 Council Meeting:

Only essential officers and Councillors will attend Council Meetings There will be no public access/gallery attendance at Council Meetings

Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing.

The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
